Distinguished guests, dear entrepreneurs from China and Latin American and Caribbean Countries:The 10th China-LAC Business Summit will be held in the beautiful Phoenix city - Tangshan, Hebei Province, October 14-15, 2016. Here on behalf of the People's Government of Hebei Province, I would like to sincerely welcome distinguished guests and entrepreneurs to this grand gathering.Co-sponsored by CCPIT, the People’s Government of Hebei Province, People’s Bank of China and Inter-American Development Bank, the 10th China-LAC Business Summit aims to enhance the business cooperation confidence and to promote the comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and LAC countries to develop in great depth. With the theme of “Working Together in Innovation for Win-Win Cooperation”, the Summit focuses on new fields of trade and investment in China-LAC countries, new enterprises’ cooperation patterns, and new dimensions for services by business associations, and includes a series of activities such as thematic seminars, thematic matchmaking meetings, and trade exhibitions.Hebei, the core hinter-land of the Bohai-Rim Circle, who encircling Beijing and Tianjin, covers a total area of 188,000 square kilometers and enjoys a coastline of 487 kilometers, with a total population of over 74 million. The province enjoys an advantageous geographical location and convenient transportation. It also has a long history and rich culture. With a complete industrial system, Hebei has established economic and trade relations with more than 200 countries and regions worldwide. At present, Hebei is thoroughly implementing the innovation, coordination, green development, opening up, sharing, a set of five development concepts, taking initiative to adapt and lead the economic development of the new normal, and accelerating the supply-side structural reform. Facing the opportunities of Coordinated Development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region and Beijing and Zhangjiakou jointly co-host the 22nd Winter Olympic Games, Hebei is moving towards the great goal of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way.Strengthening exchanges and cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries is an important part for Hebei's opening up to the outside world and the effort to establish an open economy. At present, the Latin American and Caribbean countries are accelerating the process of industrialization and construction of infrastructure. Hebei has obvious advantages in iron and steel, cement, plate glass and equipment manufacturing industries, and also has great cooperation potentials for both sides. Jidong Development Group and other well-known enterprises in Hebei have launched cooperation projects in some Latin American and Caribbean countries, and achieved remarkable success. I sincerely hope that the 10th China-LAC Business Summit will be an opportunity to further enhance exchanges and deepen effective cooperation, and improve the economic and trade cooperation to a new level between Hebei and Latin American and Caribbean countries. As the host city of the 10th China-LAC Business Summit, Tangshan City is known as the Cradle of the China’s Modern Industries. It is in this very city that China saw its first mechanized coal mine, standard-gauge railway track, steam locomotive, as well as its first barrel of machine-made cement and its first piece of ceramic sanitary ware. In 1976, Tangshan City suffered the impact of earthquake. Thanks to the great perseverance and unremitting efforts of the Tangshan people over 40 years, the city has taken on a brand-new look and enjoys rapid economic development. Tangshan has also increasingly become a hot spot for foreign investors. I believe the summit will bring new opportunities and add fresh dynamics for the development of Tangshan. As the host of the 10th China-LAC Business Summit, we will adhere to the traditions of the ancient Yan Zhao people, and provide comprehensive, attentive and satisfactory services for the success of the summit with our warmth and hospitality.
